What a day!

What a day I had yesterday -- this was me by last night. I'm working off my laptop that belongs to work because my home desktop crashed Christmas weekend. I hauled it into work hoping that the IT guy would be able to fix it and figuring that I must have had a whopping worm or virus that damaged it. So, yesterday, in the pouring rain (I was out seeing clients) he calls me and says that he fixed it. Yippeee! I gave into my need for immediate gratification and drove 30 miles to the office in the pouring rain, hauled it back out to the car, got it home, hauled it back in, set it up.... and....same thing. Crashed. Frozen solid. He spent 3 hours on the phone with me last nite, sweetie that he is, and forget it, it's the hardware and it's a goner. So, then we tried to get the laptop hooked up to my broadband, and, well, that didn't work either. By 9pm I was ready to toss both the laptop and the desktop out the window. Ok, so I know that computers don''t last forever, but all my academic work and all my emails and stuff are on the desktop. So, I have to haul it BACK IN so he can bypass whatever so I can at least save stuff to a flash drive.

So with all the suffering people are going through these days, I need to stop whining over a dumb computer. It's just that I've become so dependent on a little piece of technology, and when it goes, so goes all my stuff! Oh well, I'll just use the laptop until I can save up for a new one. (so, let's see -- the car was $900 on Friday... and now I need a new computer...arrrgggg!!!) Oh, and did I tell you my vacuum broke, too??? That's old news, but at least I can borrow my mom's for a while. Can you imagine -- she's 96 and still vacuums! She is amazing.
The sun is shining, it's nice and cold, so I"m going to do a mood adjustment and head off to work. Today has to be better! Hope everyone has a great day. WW meeting tonite -- the scale awaits!!! BTW, I just want say that everyone has such beautiful prim homes. I love the pics and thanks for sharing them.

  4. Terry,
So sorry to hear about your computer. The only good thing about when mine goes crazy is that I'm married to my IT guy. The only bad thing about it is that after working on computers and software programs all day...I'm sure that last thing he wants to hear about is mine being bad. lol...
You mentioned something on my post about game boards that yours got all smeary and stuff. I find that the trick is to make sure that you don't have too much paint on your stencil brush. When I do...it will smear and actually go out under the stencil. So I put the brush into the paint and then tap some off onto a paper towel before I start to stencil on the board.
You got the 3's out of the way, so I hope you are having a great day!!

  5. When you stencil it can be with either a stencil brush or a sponge. I have used both, but I like the brush better. I think it works better, at least for me it does. The only time I use the sponge anymore is when I'm sponge painting walls, but when I use a stencil, no matter what I'm stenciling on...I always use a stencil brush. A stencil brush has short firm, tightly packed bristles. I found this link that will show you what it looks like and how to use it. http://aboutpainting.com/od/stencillingdecorative/ss/stencil_brush.htm
    Hope this helps.
