Ups and Downs

This must be my week for "old friends." Last Saturday, I saw my old friend from high school, which was such an up. Monday nite, I got a call from California about another old friend -- Joann, who was my first head nurse when I was just starting out 35 years ago -- this news was a 'down.' Joann passed away last Friday. I hadn't seen her for a few years because of the cost of traveling across country, but we emailed all the time and stayed on top of what was happening in each others lives. She was sick for the last year, but the news still came as a shock. I had just emailed her on Sunday and was worried that she hadn't responded... anyway, feeling a little sad yesterday and today, especially since the funeral is in California and I can't attend. She had family here on the East Coast, so I am hoping that there will be a memorial service here at some point. These things are all in the cycle of life, but they are still very hard to deal with when they happen.

I haven't had any time to do any redos, but I have been doing some tweaking here and there. I'll post those pics tomorrow. I picked up these 'jugs' (not THOSE jugs, Janene!) over the weekend. They are small and fit right in with the other ones I have. What I really like about the white one is the elaborate writing on the front. Very cool. They came from the concession shop, not the TS -- nothing happening at the TS these days. I also picked up some reading material while I was out.

Picked up some old Martha Stewarts for 50 cents -- I used to love these, but there are just so foo-foo. Do real people have the time to do this stuff? LOL. Nice to browse thru, but only if I can get them for cheap. I also picked up this great book that chronicles the 20th century -- I love my History! Going thru that one now.

For all of you coffee drinkers, did you ever find that all of a sudden your coffee tastes funny after your coffeemaker hits the 2 year mark? I do the vinegar/water rinse every month to keep it free from buildup, but the other day -- BLECK. Thought the coffee went bad. Finally, gave up and ran over to Walmart to pick up a new Mr Coffee (MUCH better) and of course, the Big Furball had to investigate what was in the empty carton. He decided to take a little snooze inside the box. What a dufus!

So that's my news...I'm off today, so taking my mom shopping. We're in a heat wave -- hitting 65 today (!) so, good day to get things done. Hope you all have a good day!

  1. Terry,
I'm so sorry about your friend. It's so hard to lose a good friend and my thoughts and prayers are with you and her family.
On a lighter note, I like your jugs, LOL. I know what you mean about the coffee pots. Ours never seem to last much more than two years. Have a wondeful day.

  2. So sorry Terry...it still hurts even though it is the cycle of life.

On a brighter note, I do love the "jugs" especially the one with all the lettering:)

We got a new Mr.Coffee last year and there definitly was a difference in the taste.
Have a wonderful time with your mom, I so wish I could do that but mom has been gone for several years.

  4. Nice jugs Terry! I'm very impressed! They are not quite as large as I thought they would be! And the tattoo/writing on the whiter one is very cool indeed!
